England – Premier League

Kick-off at 16:30 UK/ 17:30 CET
Venue: Anfield.

When Liverpool takes on arch rivals Everton at Anfield this weekend, they will be looking to keep the pressure on Manchester City in the Premier League title battle.

When Liverpool takes on local rivals Everton at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, they will be hoping to close the margin at the top of the Premier League standings to just one point.

Jurgen Klopp’s team has done a fantastic job of putting Manchester City under pressure in the title chase.

After thumping Manchester United 4-0 at Anfield earlier this week, they momentarily went to the top of the table.

The Cityzens have since won two games in a row, against Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford, to take a four-point lead.

Liverpool cannot afford a slip-up with only six games remaining in the season.

Jurgen Klopp’s players will need all hands on deck to keep their prospects of a quadruple burning brightly because of their UEFA Champions League commitments.

Everton, on the other hand, are at the bottom of the league table, dangerously close to relegation.

The Toffees are only one point ahead of Burnley in 18th place, but they have a game in hand to close the gap, albeit they will need to beat their Merseyside opponents on Sunday.

After three losses in a row in all competitions, Frank Lampard’s side has won their past two games, defeating Manchester United 1-0 and eking out a late-gasp draw against Leicester City.

To have a chance of coming away with a win at Anfield on Sunday, they’ll have to play their hearts out.

Liverpool vs Everton Head to head :

  • The latest clash had ended in a 1-4 win for the Reds.
  • They had recorded nine of the past ten overall wins.
  • At this venue, the hosts had won four of the past five meetings.
  • The home team had scored two or more goals in four of the last seven PL encounters at this ground.

Liverpool vs Everton Prediction :

Last time out, Liverpool put Manchester United to the sword, and they have a chance to do major damage to another bitter rival in Everton this weekend.

The Toffees have improved recently, but they remain dangerously near to relegation.

Last time out, they needed an injury-time equalizer to preserve a point against Leicester City.

Frank Lampard’s team has struggled defensively and lacks a clinical edge, and their away form does not inspire much confidence.

At Anfield, expect Liverpool to coast to a comfortable victory and keep another clean sheet.

Liverpool vs Everton Team News :

Despite having one of the toughest spring schedules in the Premier League, Liverpool’s treatment room is still empty, with the exception of Roberto Firmino, who has a foot issue that will need to be assessed before Sunday’s derby.

Klopp has a fully healthy squad for Everton’s visit, and will almost definitely shuffle the group with Villarreal in mind, as Naby Keita, Kostas Tsimikas, and Diogo Jota push for first-team recalls.

Thiago Alcantara was sensational against Manchester United, but he could be one of the major names rested this weekend, while Joel Matip could take over for Ibrahima Konate in the Champions League for the time being.

Everton, on the other hand, has been struck a hammer blow with the news that Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss the Merseyside derby owing to a thigh problem that will keep him out for at least 10 days, while Donny van de Beek and Andre Gomes have also been ruled out.

Van van Beek is out with a groin strain, Gomes is out with a similar problem, and Lampard has to cope with the long-term absences of Andros Townsend, Tom Davies, and Nathan Patterson on top of that.

Dele Alli came off the substitute to help Everton equalize in midweek, but Lampard is unlikely to make any changes to his starting lineup, with Richarlison leading the line in the absence of Calvert-Lewin and Fabian Delph in the centre.

Liverpool possible starting lineup:

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Henderson, Fabinho, Keita; Salah, Jota, Diaz

Everton possible starting lineup:

Pickford; Coleman, Mina, Godfrey, Mykolenko; Delph, Allan, Iwobi; Gordon, Richarlison, Gray
