Two of the Premier League’s current top three face off when table-topping Liverpool host 3rd placed Leicester City at Anfield on Saturday, where Jurgen Klopp’s title-chasers will be out to maintain their perfect start to the new season.

Liverpool’s seven-match winning streak came under serious threat last weekend in their slender 1-0 win at Sheffield United, and the Reds have looked a little short of their usual imperious selves in recent weeks.

The European champions threw a three-goal lead away at home to Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg in mid-week on Merseyside before eventually recovering to win, though their performance shone another unflattering light on the team’s continuing problems at the back.

In 11 competitive fixtures since the new campaign kicked-off, Liverpool were able to keep their opponents out on just three occasions, though the Reds’ electric forward line has generally been able to bail them out.

Liverpool have averaged 2.36 goals per 90 minutes this term, and we expect their world-class attacking triumvirate to make the difference against Leicester again this weekend.

Liverpool vs Leicester City Team News

Joel Matip was injured for Liverpool’s 4-3 Champions League win over Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday night but could return for this one. Naby Keita came off the bench in that match and will be pushing to start on Saturday.

James Maddison was absent for Leicester’s 5-0 win against Newcastle last Sunday and faces a race to be fit.

Liverpool vs Leicester City Preview

Although Liverpool’s attack were, once again, in red-hot form on Wednesday night, their defence continued to struggle as the Reds surrendered a 3-0 lead before Mohamed Salah’s goal gave his side the points.

That game was the fourth match in a row at Anfield where the Reds have won but conceded and it could be a similar story on Saturday afternoon.

Leicester have scored in 11 of their last 13 Premier League away matches but they have not kept a clean sheet away from the King Power Stadium since a 1-0 at Goodison Park on New Year’s Day, conceding 18 times in the following 11 away fixtures.

Liverpool vs Leicester City Tips and Predictions

Liverpool’s devastating attack has scored 14 times at Anfield this season in all competitions but, with their defence still exploitable, the 15/8 (2.87) quote on a home win in which both teams score looks the way to go on Saturday afternoon.
