After Marco Silva’s poor recent run as Everton boss in the Premier League, his side will need to come up with something special to stop Manchester City in their tracks.
The Toffees have been very disappointing in recent weeks, losing convincingly to both Bournemouth and Sheffield United.
That has piled the pressure on Everton boss Marco Silva, who is now one of the favourites in the Premier League to be sacked.
Though, after their Carabao Cup win against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, Silva and Everton will be looking to aid their Merseyside rivals Liverpool and stun Manchester City.
It won’t be easy though, with Pep Guardiola’s side going into the game off the back of their 8-0 demolition of Watford.
The defending Champions may have slipped up against Norwich the other week, but bounced back in style last weekend.
Now, they’ll be looking to build on that with another comprehensive win at Goodison Park.
Everton team news vs Manchester City
The big concern for Everton will be the fitness of Andre Gomes ahead of this weekend.
The midfielder has been important for Everton ever since signing on loan last season, and permanently over the summer.
It’s no coincidence either that sub-par performances against Bournemouth and Sheffield United came when he was injured.
After also missing the Carabao Cup game in midweek, he could be back for the visit of Man City.
Jean-Philippe Gbamin will remain sidelined with a thigh injury.
Manchester City team news vs Everton
Manchester City looked to come through their clash with Preston unscathed on Tuesday night.
That will come as a big boost with Man City already struggling with a defensive crisis.
Both Aymeric Laporte and John Stones will miss the match this weekend, meaning Nicolás Otamendi is still the only fit central defender.
Fernandinho was used to partner Otamendi against Watford, and will likely feature alongside him this weekend.
